After Hours Weekly News

Victoria Secret Angel Model’s Outfit Very Similar to Evangelion Suit

About a few weeks ago, many Eva fans found out that a model had been wearing an outfit that looked unmistakably like Rei Ayanami’s plugsuit. Many people were confused by this because the movie was scheduled to be shown this week and many people were wondering if this was just a way to promote the movie, but this week Gainax announced that they weren't contacted by Victoria secret regarding the Evangelion outfit. They added that they only learned about the lookalike outfit through the internet and the (angry) fans talking about it. Gainax has yet to take any legal or official action regarding the outfit, but they didn’t seem too happy about the outfit. Victoria Secret has yet to make an official comment.

Dragon Ball Z Movie

There’s a new Dragon Ball Z movie coming out next year and there have been a few ads popping out that are giving us clues to what the movie is about. Many people have been speculating that many foes before Piccolo and Freeza, will appear in this movie (maybe Pilaf, Mai, and Shu). The movie is set to take place about ten years after Goku beats Buu in battle. I’m a big fan of the Dragon Ball series and I’m looking forward to this awesome movie. The Z-Fighters are back!

Nintendo Legend Turns 60

One of the world’s most influential Japanese video game designer and producer, Shigeru Miyamoto, turned 60 this week. He is best known as the creator of some of the most successful video game franchises of all time, including Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda (one of my personal favorites), Star Fox (again, another favorite of mine), F-Zero, and Pikmin. He has won multiple awards including Game Developers Choice Awards, Lifetime Achievement Award, Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences’ Hall of Fame, IGN’s Top 100 Game Creators of All Time, and has been featured in Time Magazines Asia’s “60 Years of Asian Heroes”. All of us from Midnight Anime Radio wish him a happy birthday!

Favorite Fall 2012 Anime Heroine Tournament

Even though it’s somewhat early to name the best female anime characters of the fall 2012 season, Biglobe decided to hold a vote to name the best heroine. Over 20,000 votes were casted and here were the top ten female characters:
  1. Hidmari Sketch x Honeycomb’s Yuno
  2. Chunibuyo Demo Koi ga Shitai’s Rikka Takanashi
  3. Chunibuyo Demo Koi ga Shitai’s Kumin Tsuyuri
  4. Medaka Box Abnormal’s Youka Naze
  5. To love-Ru Darkness’ Momo Belia Deviluke
  6. Hayate The Combat Butler: Can’t Take My Eyes of You’s Katsura Hinagiku
  7. To Love-Ru Darkness’ Yui Kotegawa
  8. Sword Art Online’s Fairy Asuna Yuki
  9. Pet Girl of Sakurasou’s Mashiro Shiina
  10. Medaka Box Abnormal’s Medaka Kurokami

I’m actually not a very big fan of most of these heroines but it’s interesting to see what other people like in an anime character.
